ADOPTED!  Just one look at Melvin and you can tell he's clearly one-of-a-kind. We estimate he's 5 - 7 years old, a hairless/terrier mix. He is active and friendly, with the most beautiful brown eyes you've ever seen.

This cool dude generally operates in "laid-back" mode, checking things out at his own pace. He is a dog that generally goes along withwhat is going on around him; he just rolls with the punches. Other dogs hanging out? He's hanging out, too. Other dogs running to the fence to check stuff out? He'll tag along.

But when its feeding time, play time, or time for a walk... Then he turns on his GO, and does little dances & barks to get your attention. He has all the right moves too: spins, pirouettes, etc. Melvin is extremely attentive and focused, and a great listener!

He is a funny guy. He has an unusual coat and the softest skin you can imagine. It's a good thing, too, because he likes people and enjoys being petted. He also has a little gap between his front teeth that shows when he smiles... looks kind of like David Letterman!

When he first came into rescue, he was a little grumpy due to an ear infection. He's so much better now, but after seeing that grumpy side, we don't recommend Melvin for a home with young children. He'd also be fine in a home where he's the only dog. Melvin is "easy to read" as a dog, and he uses his grumpy noises and whimpers to communicate with people... letting you know he's cold or hungry or needs to go outside.

And Melvin is very reliably house trained. He can be trusted out loose in the house- no accidents and no destructive behaviors. He will potty quickly on a walk, and is like clockwork. Easy in that area! 

Melvin needs a grain-free diet, which is easy to find, and benefits from a special shampoo to keep his fur soft and fluffy and his skin not itchy. He also loves reguarl brushing to keep his soft fur from matting.
