Lakota ❉
January 14, 2015

Lakota came to us in the summer of 2011 as part of the group known as the TX10. This group came from a hoarding situation in Houston, where almost 200 dogs were taken from one home.

Of the ten that came to us, Lakota was the first to take a treat, the first to play with toys, and the first to give and receive affection. He showed his friends that people were alright, and led the way for all of them on their road to recovery.

Lakota was adopted in August, 2011 and spent the final years of his life being adored and loved in the way he deserved. Sadly, he suffered from congestive heart failure and had to leave his family behind. We send our love and heartfelt condolences to the Smith family. Rest in peace, sweet Lakota!

Lamb Chop
February 2016

Sweet Lamb Chop left for the Rainbow Bridge this week. Lambie's foster mom Diane shares "I have never known a more moved and spoiled dog in my life. They family didn't even go to church on Sundays unless one member stayed home with Lambie. That little dog will surely be missed by everyone who knew her.

To her parents, Charlotte and Gene we send our love and gratitude for giving Lamb Chop a special foverer home.

Layla
September 8, 2016

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that lovely Layla passed away. She was incredibly loved by her Mom and Dad, who will miss her very much.

Her mom shared, "I understand that she had a bad beginning of her life but when she came here, she turned into a princess. When I rescued her, she also did the same to me! I was never a "dog person" and that sweet soul turned me into that! She give me so much love! For free! All she needed was to be able to be close to me and she was happy,,,,,,I will miss her like crazy!

Layla and I were just what we needed and I know she will always be with me!"

We send our love to Layla's family, and Layla's foster mom. So sorry for your loss.

Lena

June 10, 2020

From her dad: I just wanted to say thank you for all the support and prayers for our little Princess Lena. Today she crossed the Rainbow Bridge. She was adopted 8 years ago

Leona
Leona came to us at the end of June, 2012. Right away, she made quite an impression. Happy, sweet, social... she brought joy to every person she met. She would look at you, tilt her head to the smile as if to say, "How cute am I?"

Very cute!

But sadly, Leona's time with us was not meant to last. After undergoing emergency surgery for a ruptured disk, her prognosis was grim.

Bald is Beautiful was created in 2010 by a group of volunteers who opened their hearts and homes to care for dogs in need. We have placed over 100 of these dogs in loving forever homes. And on July 9, 2012, for the first time, we had to help one of those dogs cross the Rainbow Bridge.

In our hearts, Leona will always represent something amazing. She was a dog loved up close by a few, and from far away by many, many others. She represents doing everything we possibly can to help dogs when they need us the most. And in the end, helping her cross the Rainbow Bridge was how we sent her home.

Rest in peace, Beautiful Leona.
